This past week, the weekly cause for Be the Change for Animals has been the Change.org petition requesting the Governor of Indiana to ban exotic pets. Currently in the state of Indiana, licensed owners can have pets as extreme as lions, hyenas, orangutans, anacondas and others. This is ludicrous. It has been well-documented that wild animals such as these do not work out well as pets, and can be dangerous – in fact often are in danger themselves due to the degree of care they require. Many exotic pet owners do not realize what the animals need; this leads to both destructive and dangerous behavior, as well as possible health concerns for the pets themselves.
Simply put, there are animals that just should not be owned as pets. Recently the Governor of Ohio banned exotic pets; please take a moment to sign the petition to ask the Governor of Indiana to do the same – for the sake of everyone, animals and people alike.

I'd like to see a ban on exotic pets everywhere in the world. Including smaller creatures like birds, snakes and iguanas. So many are smuggled and die in transit as well :(
